The truth is you are the ideal candidate for the type of person that you are looking to have as a client. Essentially, you are the perfect demographic for the person you’re trying to reach in your business.
You’ll find the greatest success when you reach out to people who are similar to you. This includes your demographic, the things you like, your interests, and the activities you engage in during your free time. The people you connect with during those things need to buy and sell houses too, so they might as well do it through you. Plus, people prefer to do business with people they like, and they tend to like people who are similar to them.
Also, people often live near others who are like them. Therefore, your neighbors probably have a lot in common with you. One of the best outreach strategies you can have for your business is to connect with your local community and immediate neighborhood.

Consider this: You’re likely very familiar with your neighborhood because you researched it before moving in. You know all about the houses and the community. Who better to help people in your neighborhood sell their homes than you, the community expert? Even if you’re a younger agent who doesn’t own a home, you’re still the perfect agent to work with first-time homebuyers. You understand the feeling and the struggles.
This concept also applies to your marketing strategies. Consider the marketing campaigns that appeal to you. Do you like it when telemarketers call you, or do you prefer other methods? You’ll have the most success when you use marketing strategies that would appeal to you. Also, think about big ticket items you’ve purchased recently. How did those businesses earn your patronage? What strategies did they use to attract you? You should be able to use similar methods to reach others like you.
You’ll find the greatest success when you reach out to people who are similar to you in income, types of houses they own, hobbies and pastimes, dressing style, age, and life stage. Therefore, when you’re developing your strategic plan, design it in a way that it will resonate with people like you.
